Hi Folks, here's the rundown on the Nimisila Outing.
Thursday August 19 or Friday August 20: Arrive at Nimisila Reservoir Metro Park Address: 5550 Christman Rd. Green, Ohio. 44319
Campsites Reserved: #6, 7, 8, 10. There is room for two tents or a small camper and one tent on each site. These are non-electric sites. If you need electricity you are welcome to make your own reservation. There is no potable water in the park. There are vault toilets.
Thursday August 19: Hang around camp or visit the city of Canal Fulton for lunch or take a boat trip on the Ohio and Erie Canal.
Friday August 20: Enjoy the park or paddle the other Portage Lakes nearby. Evening paddle is on Nimisila Reservoir to watch the Purple Martin migration. Several viewing areas are close by for those who are not in boats.
Saturday August 21: Paddle the Tuscarawus River Trail. This is an 11 mile trip. We will move boats and people to Canal Fulton Canoe Livery and Campgrounds. We need to arrive at 9:30am. The Livery will transport people and boats to their private launch in Clinton. We paddle downstream past the Livery to the private take-out in Crystal Springs. The Livery will take people and boats back to our cars. There is a $10 charge for each boat. This part of the Tuscarawus is maintained by the Livery so we should not encounter log jams. Canal Fulton Canoe and Livery address: 219 Cherry St (St. Rt. 93) Canal Fulton, Ohio 330-854-4008
Saturday evening Potluck: The theme is The Dog Days of Summer.
Sunday August 22: Take down and depart.
Please let me know if you need a campsite and if you are arriving Thursday or Friday. Sites are $25/night. I will also need a boat count to give to the Livery.
