Olentangy River
March 31, April 1, 2, 2023

Trip is canceled due to water levels and wind.

We are camping at Delaware State Park, 5202 St Rt 23, between Delaware and Waldo, Ohio. I have reserved sites 134 and 145 for a total of $117.40, using my old mans card. Price per person will be split between all campers. If there are more than 12 people or 6 tents, we may have to get another campsite.

The campground only has one loop opened at this time and the shower house is closed for renovation. There are two port-a-pots available for use. There is electric at the sites. There is no water available. BRING YOUR OWN WATER.

There are 2 trips we can do. The first is an 8 mile paddle from St Rt 95 to Cardington Road. The put in is 20 miles from the campground. I did this route twice last year and there were no logjams.

The second option is to put in at St James Road north of Waldo. This put in is only 10 miles from camp. We can paddle 7.19 miles and take out at St Rt 229 or paddle an extra 2.32 miles on Delaware Lake to the campground for a total of 9.51 miles. That part would depend on weather and wind I feel. I have not paddle this section for about 6 years so do not know the logjam conditions. It is the prettiest part of the river upstream of Delaware Lake.

As far as food, if you want to do a potluck I would suggest food that keeps you warm. It could be very cold and windy or mild and sunny. It is the end of March so who knows.
