Tuscarawas River
June 21 - 23, 2024

June's club outing will be on the Tuscarawas River near the historic village of Zoar.

Camping will be at NTR Canoe Livery 11358 ST RT 212 NE Bolivar, OH. I77 exit mile 93, 1/4-mile East.

The Livery is open from 10AM until 6PM. There is an entry gate and exit gate. Stop at the Office when you arrive, let them know you are with PACO. Anyone arriving after 6PM will have to call my cell phone, we will open the exit gate for you. 330-328-735

The camping is $10/person/night, pay the trip leader. The livery requires each person to sign a waiver, the trip leader will have copies.

There is no electricity and no potable water.

The porta john is about 250 feet from our sites. Bring your own bucket! We have campsites #4 & #5. These are wooded, shaded sites, all grass, no asphalt/gravel pads. Each site has a picnic table, fire pit and a trash receptacle. Two tables may not be enough, you may want to bring a small table. Parking at the sites is limited. They ask that we take our trash bags to the dumpster near the toilet. There is fishing available in their pond, it is 30' deep.

Saturday Shuttle at 9 AM, we do not want to interfere with the normal livery operations. Put In at Craig Pittman Park, Stark Parks. River Mile 83.8. This is a dedicated access. 8042-8062 Hudson Drive SW (RT 255), Navarre, 44662.
There is extra parking and a porta john.
It is a 12.5 mile run back to the livery, expect 4+ hours with a lunch stop. This is a repeat of our outings in 2009,12,17. The river gauge reading needs to be 1.65' but 2.0' would be better. if it is lower than 1.65' we may shorten the paddle. (USGS gauge at New Philadelphia) Take Out is at the livery. Again, try to not interfere with the livery operations. The Take Out is located next to the livery office, 100+ yards from our campsites.

Trip leader will be there Thursday (6/20) around 5 PM, weather permitting.

The Community Meal theme will be Summertime Food Favorites because the first day of summer is June 20th!

There are many historical sites nearby, Fort Laurens state memorial, Zoar historic village, Greenville Peace treaty Line. Within a half mile of the livery; there is a gas station (West of I77), and East across the bridge is a grocery store, fast food and a brewery.

A head count is needed, email the list group by Monday the 17th.
